It will also show the kind of preparation needed for their career selection. Career Ready 101 includes several career exploration activities to help you get a better idea of the career options that are open to you. One way Career Ready 101 does this is to define commonalities and differences in occupations and organize them into “career clusters”. Organizing careers and occupations into clusters allows educators and industry representatives to define career pathways and the knowledge, skills and abilities people need to be successful in a cluster. The career cluster approach to education ensures that what individuals learn is relevant to their career interest and prepares them for success in college and the workplace. Career Planning includes defining career interests using tools such as an embedded version of the O*NET Interest Profiler, researching occupational information and skill requirements, the job search process, job applications, resumes, interviewing skills, financial awareness, and real world experience.
Soft skills training helps individuals improve skills critical for job success including interpersonal and business communication, problem solving and critical thinking, working in teams, customer service, and work discipline.

These skills, referred to as foundational skills, will help you achieve and succeed in any career. KeyTrain courses are designed specifically to help individuals improve their work-readiness skills and will help them prepare to be life-long learners so they can meet the challenges and changes of the workplace now and in the future.
The curriculum for each KeyTrain course is based on ACT’s WorkKeys Targets for Instruction to ensure the skills measured in the WorkKeys assessments are covered in KeyTrain. One of the important goals of Career Ready 101 is to provide a National Career Readiness Certificate(NCRC) which is based on the skill levels achieved in foundational skills. These foundational skills are measured by the WorkKeys® job skills assessment system. The skill levels attained in three of the WorkKeys assessments determine the level of certificate awarded to an individual. Having a NCRC proves to an employer that you possess the foundational skills needed to succeed in career.
The National Level Readiness Certificate issues(NCRC) four levels of certificates - Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Earning a Bronze certificate will qualify you for about 35% of the jobs ACT has researched. A Silver certificate will qualify for 65%, a Gold certificate 90% and a Platinum certificate 99% of these jobs.
